Note! GATE has released a software update of WARFET, which improves the current pre-cocking feature in the unit. Thanks to the update the pre-cocking is done instantly after the shot, when originally it was programmed to function with a small delay. The upgraded version can be recognized from the "Ver. 1.1" sticker on the box.

There is an illustrative video of the upgrade below. Props to GATE!

With the WARFET you can win the fight before it even begins. That's where the name of the unit comes from.

WARFET is GATE's programmable MOSFET, which can also be used in "Plug 'n Play" mode. It is GATE's first MOSFET unit, which allows semi-only firing mode without any modifications to the cut-off lever. The unit’s programmable features are i.a. rate of fire (ROF), pre-cocking, on/off smart fuse, LiPo protection and fire modes (semi-auto, 1-5 BB burst and full auto). In addition, the unit is compatible with microswitches. It also comes with Tamiya mini connector adapters.

WARFET can be installed in two ways:

  1. Simple (Plug n' Play): The unit is attached directly between the battery and the gun - some features are disabled
  2. Advanced installation: All features are enabled - in this case the unit also directs the power straight from the battery to the motor and protects the trigger contacts.

Functions:

Features:

  • Voltage range for batteries 7.2V14.8V (absolute minimum and maximum 3V17V)
  • Compatibility is excellent with powerful airsoft guns (i.a. DSG guns)
  • Easy to installyou only need to install the signal wire and change the old connections with trigger contacts
  • Full protection of the electric system (short circuits up to 1000 A)
  • Very low power consumption in standby mode (0.2 mA)
  • Very low resistance (2 mΩ)
  • Deans and Tamiya mini connectors

The package includes:

  • GATE WARFET unit
  • Extra pair of Deans connectors
  • Deans-Tamiya battery adapter
  • Signal wire (60 cm)
  • Dual signal wire (60 cm)

MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor)

The unit reduces power loss due to normal mechanical contact in the trigger switch. When using MOSFET only the signal current flows through the trigger switch and the actual running current goes directly from the battery to the motor. This prevents the burning of the trigger contacts, which is going to happen sooner or later, especially when using powerful batteries - the average lifetime for contact surfaces in an actively used gun is around one year. At the same time, the MOSFET unit enables the maximum power flow in the circuit without unnecessary resistance due to worn trigger contacts. This also gives you a higher rate of fire and a faster trigger response.

NOTE! You will only get all of the MOSFET's features with the advanced installation.

More information on MOSFETs: Check out the MOSFET article in Tradetech to find out about the benefits etc. of the mysterious MOSFETs.

3rd generation MOSFET

The use of modern transistors and microprocessors has enabled the manufacture of small and reliable MOSFET units with microswitch compatibility.

Microswitch compatibility (digital signal processing)

With digital signal processing the MOSFET can filter out the vibrations of the microswitch during firing, which might cause excessive sparks and wear in the switch, lower rate of fire as well as heating of the motor, MOSFET, wires and battery, like with traditional MOSFETs. Since the MOSFET filters out the extra signal oscillation, there are no disadvantages of the vibrations created.

ON/OFF active brake

In operation, the motor and the gears accumulate kinetic energy (energy from motion). The magnitude of the energy is mainly determined by the speed of the mechanical parts. The maximum speed is reached approximately after the fourth shot. For this reason, the motor doesn't stop immediately after releasing the trigger, but continues to rotate for a moment. This is due to the accumulated kinetic energy; the more there is, the longer the motor keeps running "extra". The active brake is a feature, which stops the running parts with the motor immediately after releasing the trigger.

Benefits of ON/OFF active brake:

  1. No more double shots or double feeding. The gearbox performs only one full cycle with semi-auto. The piston always stays in the front position, which extends the lifespan of your gearbox.
  2. Realism - You get the exact amount of shots with every pull of the trigger as you meant. The advantage can especially be experienced with semi-auto builds.
  3. You can activate or deactivate the active brake according to your needs

NOTE! The active brake is only functional in the advanced installation.

You will find more information about how the active brake works by checking out our Tradetech MOSFET article.

Smart fuse

The smart fuse protects the MOSFET unit, the gearbox and the whole gun from electronic problems. The smart fuse is essentially an enhanced electronic fuse. The unit actively monitors the voltage, power and temperature, which ensures the fuse's reliability as well. The fuse protects your gun from both short circuits (SCP - Short Circuit Protection) and overloading (Overload Protection) as well as from overheating (OTP - Over Temperature Protection). Short circuit and overheating protection are important especially with LiPo batteries, because a short circuited LiPo battery might cause severe damage also to the gun.

Under Voltage Protection for different battery types (UVP)

Protects LiPo and Li-Ion batteries from excessive drainage. Adjustable for batteries of 7.4V - 14.8V voltages.

Self-test

The MOSFET has been equipped with a feature, with which the users themselves can test the condition of the unit. With this feature we can ensure that a problem with the gun is not caused by the MOSFET unit. With the self-test the user can also easily check if the active brake is on or off.

Protective coating

The transparent protective coating protects the MOSFET unit from splashes, debris and minor damages.

Programming

The WARFET has a programmable microprocessor. The settings are stored in memory also when the MOSFET is disconnected from the battery. Changing the settings of the unit is really easy and it's done with a WARFET programming card. The card is attached between the unit and the battery and the settings are automatically saved on the unit as they are changed.

Programmable features:

  • Active brake (ON / OFF)
  • Firing modes (semi-auto - full auto, semi-auto - burst, burst - full auto)
  • Rate of fire (50100%)
  • Adjustment of burst fire (1-5 BBs)
  • Pre-cocking
  • Smart trigger (ON / OFF)
  • Under voltage protection for 7.2V - 14.8V batteries
  • Dark mode

Instructions for the programming can be found in the included guide and in GATE's manual.

Firing mode adjustment

With the unit you can change your firing mode from the traditional full auto - semi-auto mode to semi-auto - burst, as well as burst - full auto modes. The burst fire first and foremost saves your BBs and enables a more fun, realistic and tactical play style! In addition, the burst fire can be set so short that the gun fires one shot bursts, which basically means you have a semi-only mode at your disposal! So the gun can be programmed to shoot semi-auto fire in both selector switch positions, which makes it even easier to make a self-loading semi-automatic rifle, or DMR!

NOTE! The burst fire-full auto mode only works in the advanced installation.

Rate of fire adjustment

The adjustment is based on Pulse-Width Modulation, PWM and it enables the rate of fire adjustment between 50100% (with 10% increments) regardless of the operating voltage. It does not take efficiency away from the gearbox's other features.

Adjustable burst

  • First and foremost the burst fire saves your BBs
  • If you release the trigger before the last shot, you can also shoot shorter bursts.
  • The timing of the bursts can be adjusted (36 levels) - enables the firing of shorter and longer bursts. The manufacturer promises that at least 1-5 shot bursts are possible!
  • The unit takes into account the drop in the voltage when the battery is draining so that it does not affect the amount of fired shots on burst.
  • The timing can be adjusted so small that the gun only fires one shot per trigger pull - which makes it possible to remove full auto with just the help of the WARFET. Excellent choice for semi-auto DMR rifles (semi-only restricted guns). Also works in the "Plug n' Play" mode.

Pre-cocking

Thanks to pre-cocking your shots leave immediately without a "semi-delay" and you ensure your victory on the field! It also enables the so called "Closed bolt" action, which could significantly increase the gun's accuracy!

  • The gearbox cocks the piston back after the last shot - the trigger response is therefore faster when the gearbox does not have to pull the piston back just before the shot.
  • The level of pre-cocking can be adjusted, which means you can influence the length of the response and use the feature in different rates of fire.
  • Either works automatically or trigger controlled - The automatic setting pre-cocks the piston after each semi-auto shot. When trigger controlled the user cocks the piston with the first pull of the trigger and fires with the other.
  • NOTE! Pre-cocking does not work in burst/full auto modes - However it does allow using two different semi-auto modes. The other selector switch position shoots semi-auto fire with pre-cocking and in the other position it shoots one shot "bursts" without pre-cocking!

Smart trigger

Enables the fastest possible trigger response. Works in cooperation with ROF adjustment. After connecting the battery, with the first shot the system sets the ROF adjustment to 100%. With the next shot the rate changes to a preset (e.g. 50%). Thanks to this the first shot always fires as fast as possible and the following shots according to the preset speed. You'll get the best effect by using batteries, which have a high operating voltage, like 11.1V LiPo/Li-Ion batteries. Thus, you can achieve a very fast trigger response, but still maintain a moderate rate of fire.

Dark mode

The unit flashes a blue LED light during firing. It can be switched off for example for night activities, if it bothers the user. The LED helps with diagnosing possible problems.

Two installation methods

1) Simple "Plug n' Play"
With the simple installation, you don't have to make modifications to the gun and the unit is directly connected between the gun and the battery. The unit can be directly connected to the Deans connectors or you can use the included adapter so that you can connect it with Tamiya mini connectors that are found in stock guns. Note, however, that the simple installation doesn't allow all possible features.

Available features:

  • ROF adjustment
  • Burst adjustment
  • Firing modes adjustment (only semi-auto - full auto OR semi-auto - burst)
  • Pre-cocking (only trigger controlled)
  • Smart trigger
  • Smart fuse
  • Under voltage protection
  • Dark mode

Following features are only available in the advanced installation:

  • MOSFET - in the simple installation all current goes through the trigger switch, so the unit doesn't protect your trigger contacts.
  • Active brake
  • Fire mode adjustment (burst-full auto)
  • Pre-cocking (automatic and trigger controlled)

2) Advanced
Advanced installation requires you to solder the trigger switch wires again and install the signal wire, like other GATE's MOSFET units. This will allow you to use all the features and the unit also protects the trigger contacts from burning!

Note! WARFET is not compatible with Airsoft Systems ASCU, Black Talon Concepts (BTC) or similar units.

2.3 Missing products or damaged package

Always check the contents of the package immediately upon delivery. If there are products missing or the package has been damaged, contact the shipping company and our customer service. If you do not inform us in time, you may lose your right to a refund or return the product.

2.4 Check product compatibility before ordering

Always check the compatibility of the product you are ordering with the product you are ordering it for. Information on compatibility can be found on the product page, or you can ask us directly at info@tradesoft.fi.

2.5 Force majeure and order restrictions

We are not responsible for the delivery being delayed or suspended due to a strike, natural disaster, confiscation, import or export restriction, or anything else that interferes with our business. We are also not responsible for packages that are refused, seized or denied entry by the customs agency or recipient.

Some shipping companies have restrictions for products, such as airsoft guns and gas. Therefore these products cannot be shipped with for example Posti (the Finnish postal service). Because of this we may not be able to ship all products to your country. You can check the available products by choosing your shipping country in the shopping cart – all available shipping methods will then be listed automatically.

3 Paying for your order

We offer various payment methods through our partners like the Finnish Paytrail, as well as Matkahuolto and Posti in the form of Cash On Delivery. In addition to these web shop payment methods, you can pay in cash or with your credit/debit card in our walk-in store in Turku, Finland. The available payment methods will automatically be listed in your shopping cart depending on the chosen shipping method and the shipping country.

4 Warranty

All of our products are covered with a warranty of at least one month. The warranty period of each product is stated on the order receipt. The warranty covers normal use of the product and is void if the product is modified or disassembled. In addition, using an unmodified stock gun with a battery exceeding the nominal voltage or nominal capacity stated in the product description, also voids the warranty.

The warranty does not cover products like airsoft guns that have broken after being used in cold or damp climate. The products have originally been designed for warm climates and we cannot therefore guarantee that they function normally in sub-zero temperatures or in otherwise exceptional surroundings.

Remember that the product packaging and all contents including the order receipt are part of the product and needed for warranty processing. If you have lost your order receipt, you can easily print a new one in your account order history, or contact us with your customer details. If something is missing from the product or the product is not in good condition, we may have to compensate for the defect by lowering the total refund value.

If you think your product is broken always contact us before returning the product. Do not disassemble or try to repair the product yourself, as this may void the warranty. If there is not any defect in a product that has been returned to us for warranty processing, we may have to charge a warranty inspection fee and shipping costs.

New products are also covered by the six-month defect liability if the product lacks conformity. This means that if the product was defective at the time of the purchase we will repair or exchange the product within six months. This does not apply to products that have been disassembled, tuned or otherwise modified. In addition, products that have been misused or physically damaged are not covered by this guarantee.

5 Returning a product

All products must be returned in original condition, including product packaging and other accessories provided with the package. Pack the products carefully in the return parcel, so that they arrive in good condition. Only products that have not been used can be returned. However, you may try on for example clothes to make sure they fit.

NB! Products or services made to order to customers needs, like wires sold by the meter or Deans connector installation to battery, cannot be returned.

Remember to include the order receipt or order return form in the parcel. Mark the products you want to return and a short description of what you would like in exchange (different size, other product, refund). If you have lost the order receipt you can print a new one by logging in to your account on our website, or by printing out the order return form from the email you received with the title “Your order has been shipped”.

If you forget to include your contact information in the return package, contact us by email at info@tradesoft.fi. This helps us to identify your package and process the return as quickly as possible.

Always contact us by email at info@tradesoft.fi before returning a product.
